Why did this project come to be?

JOWAT SE – Leading Adhesive Specialist and Producer

100 years of tradition and experience: Since it was founded in 1919, Jowat, an SME based in Detmold, East Westphalia, has become one of the world’s leading adhesive manufacturers. The company has more than 1,200 employees and produces over 90,000 tons of high performance adhesive per year, which it sells to customers via 23 subsidiaries and a highly integrated global dealer network. With a highly customer-focused approach, Jowat services a wide range of industries from construction, textile, automotive, and packaging to food and consumer goods. As the company continues to grow, requirements for qualitative Master Data Management are also increasing at Jowat. These requirements are optimally fulfilled with NTT DATA Business Solutions ’s GLASSWING solution. Among the 100 satisfied customers who now use GLASSWING, Jowat again has a pioneering role – as the first German customer using the master data solution.

How did we solve it?

Lives Up to Its Promise – Accurate Management of Master Data

Synchronized data is the basis for an efficient company. On account of its constant growth in business, Jowat opted for standardization and automation of its processes for data creation and data management in the SAP system.

The company came across when looking for a fully integrated and standardized solution: In this context GLASSWING provides patented software technologies for rule-based data management and simplifies numerous internal workflows through management, consolidation, and harmonization of all master data. This centrally integrated solution minimizes the manual maintenance workload. In addition, non-value added activities relating to data management and governance are reduced by up to 95%, while the quality of the master data is significantly increased.

Preconfigured Logics for Strong Data Governance

Within a short project lead time, GLASSWING was initially implemented in the ERP ECC edition via the coaching approach for the master data object “material master.” This enabled the key users to configure the solution independently. Master data fields are automatically filled with extensive rules and preconfigured logics, bringing Jowat to a new level within Master Data Maintenance.

Consequently, manual errors are significantly reduced, master data is harmonized across locations and fully available in the system. Since the specialized SAP terminology was translated into the company’s house style, the intuitive user interface is easy for employees to understand, and displays only relevant data. As a result, only permissible changes are possible, and there is optimum support for data governance.

S/4HANA

With the company’s switch to the new SAP S/4HANA Business Suite, the S/4 Edition of it.mdsADD was also transferred to the new system along with existing rules, workflows, and settings. The solution fully integrated into SAP S/4HANA provides a host of new functions that fully utilize the technical qualities of the modern ERP system. Through intelligent control of master data, Jowat can keep on expanding its digital strategy and is therefore ideally equipped for future growth.
